Wollongong has a unique flash-flood risk. Urban development is situated between a steep escarpment, narrow track of predominantly flat land, and the ocean. Historical data from the NSW SES highlights that that most people are trapped by flash flooding in the south of the Local Government Area; however, property flooding is experienced across the LGA.
